Learning the iPad: Task #1

Click on the images to make them larger, and work your way through the iPad tasks until you feel comfortable with each one. Afterwards, test yourself using the assessment at the bottom and determine if you're ready to move on to the next task.

Take a few moments to fill out this checklist. If there are things on it that you still do not feel confident about, turn back and redo those steps until you are confident in your understanding. If you need extra practice, or would like clarification of any terms used, here are some websites to reference:

Task #1 Checklist

I have learned and understand how to:

  • Start up and shut down the device, including what each of the buttons on the outside of the iPad does.

  • Use my fingers to navigate a touchscreen interface, drag and drop objects, open and close windows, and how to swipe and tap.

  • Organize the device in a coherent manner using a file management system, including making folders, adding apps to folders, and deleting apps and folders.

  • Make preferential changes to the device, including passcode lock, notifications and location services, set up a mail account, and find a wifi signal.
