Learning the iPad: Task #3

Click on the images to make them larger, and work your way through the iPad tasks until you feel comfortable with each one. Afterwards, test yourself using the assessment at the bottom and determine if you're ready to move on to the next task.

For this task, you will navigate the Apple App Store, search for, and download as many of these free apps as you'd like. Play around with the apps when you've downloaded them, and you will find that it gets easier to navigate apps because they are all organized somewhat similarly, with page navigation at the bottom and swipe scrolling features.

Task #3 Assessment

Take a few moments to fill out this checklist. If there are things on it that you still do not feel confident about, turn back and redo those steps until you are confident in your understanding.

Task #3 Checklist

I have learned and understand how to:

  • Navigate the App Store and read app descriptions

  • Download and explore apps

I have learned each of the three tasks thoroughly and have a confident understanding of the common terms and functions associated with the iPad. I feel ready to take my knowledge and learn to self-navigate other types of mobile devices.
I have learned the basics, but don’t necessarily feel confident applying what I’ve learned to other devices. I will have to re-do the tasks in order to feel I have a true understanding of the iPad.
I understand how the touchscreen works, but I get confused navigating the apps and Internet portions of the iPad. I am fairly confident I can manipulate the settings, but not so sure I can set up other e-mail accounts or contact lists.
I am lost! I could turn the iPad on, but the class was too short for me to really get an understanding of the concepts. I can figure out how to open apps and check my e-mail, but when it comes to manipulating screens or settings, I need a lot more help.
